RIP George Segal - Dark Horizons

Rip George Segal

Beloved veteran actor George Segal has died. Segal’s wife confirmed the news today, saying in a statement it was due to complications from bypass surgery.

Segal had the ability to jump between drama and comedy, and between film and television, with ease. He rose to fame in the 1960s and 1970s and scored an Oscar nomination for his work in “Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf?,” along with winning a Golden Globe for “A Touch of Class”.

To a whole other generation in the 1990s and 2000s, he was known more for his character actor work in TV shows including his award-winning work as Jack Gallo on sitcom “Just Shoot Me” and as grandfather Albert ‘Pops’ Solomon in “The Goldbergs”.

Notable films included “The Quiller Memorandum,” “The Terminal Man,” “Ship of Fools,” “The Deadly Game,” “No Way to Treat a Lady,” “King Rat,” “The New Interns,” “Fun with Dick and Jane,” “Who is Killing the Great Chefs of Europe,” “Look Who’s Talking,” “The Cable Guy,” “The Mirror Has Two Faces,” and “Love and Other Drugs”.
